APRIL 2022

 COVID Testing Update

Due to the significant decrease in the number of Positive COVID cases, we will no longer be requiring athletes to participate in COVID testing prior to athletic events.  This is also the case for our performing arts events.  Please know that there may be specific field trips or internships that require COVID testing, so this will take place as needed for these trips and internships.

As a courtesy, we will be offering weekly COVID testing for any student.  This will take place during the school day.  If you would like your student to be tested weekly, please complete this form HERE by Monday, April 4th.  Completing this form indicates that you would like your child to participate in weekly COVID testing.  You will be called if your child's test result is positive.  All test results, positive or negative, will be entered into the RIDOH testing portal.

A Final Call for SIT Applications

From the Student Assistance Counselor

The Rhode Island Regional Coalitions have put together a program called "Hidden in Plain Sight" that allows parents a unique interactive opportunity to look into a teen’s mock bedroom. The room is full of common household items that could be used to hide or disguise drug, alcohol, tobacco use or other “risky” behaviors. They have created a virtual version that you can do at home.

Please take the time to talk to your teen about the items you see – use this as a way to launch a conversation about substance use among peers.

Parents are the number one tool against substance use!

You can access the virtual bedroom at this link: https://x78.b45.myftpupload.com/hidden-in-plain-sight/

Click the blue words at the top that say "snap content" to access the room.

From our CHINESE Program

On March 25th, we had an another special Zoom Meet with the students from our sister school in China.  The theme is "Chinese Dragon". The Chariho students demonstrated the Chinese dragons made by themselves, and they talked about how they made their dragons. The students from China introduced information about the Chinese dragon through presentations, such as the legend stories, Chinese dragon dance custom, the spirit and the significance of the Chinese dragon, related food, movies and Chinese idioms, etc.  The students have learned a lot about the Chinese dragon through making their own dragons, and talking to their peers from China.
