Thank you for everyone's flexibility as we continue to progress through our State Testing calendar. We have now completed both SAT and PSAT testing and have just PSAT make-ups tomorrow and then 11th grade Science Testing next week on 5/4. See the remainder of the State Testing calendar below. This is a reminder that only 11th graders will be in the building on Tuesday, May 4th for the NGSA testing. Grades 9, 10 and 12 will remain home for asynchronous learning.
End-of-Year EVENTS!
We know you have been waiting to hear about upcoming events for our senior class and end-of-year celebrations. We are happy to share that we have recently finalized our end-of-year events calendar. We have been coordinating event planning with district and building administration alongside a team from RIDE and the Department of Health. As you are likely aware, we were awaiting guidance from the state. We now have clear guidelines for May and June events and are happy to share that we have several in-person events lined up for our seniors and juniors. Advanced Placement Exams
Students will take their AP Exams on select dates in May and June. Due to the nature of each specific AP exam and due to COVID seating capacity restrictions, some of the AP exams will be administered in-person and others will be administered virtually. Please see the AP Exam schedule here. If a student has an at-home digital exam they can remain home for the full day and it will be documented as an excused absence.
Plans for Semester 2 Exams
Similar to Semester 1, our Semester 2 exams will take place virtually this year. We closely examined how our Semester 1 exams went and sought input from students, teachers and stakeholders to guide our decision-making for our semester 2 plans. We reflected on what worked and what adjustments need to be made. Our main intent is to provide an equitable experience for all students while maintaining the rigor and integrity of our exams. Please know that our departments and teachers are working hard to create virtual semester exams that capture the priority standards our students have learned over the course of this past semester. Our senior exam week will take place June 1st through June 4th, with June 7th and June 8th as an exam make-up days. Seniors will be remain at home this week for their virtual exams, while grades 9-11 students will be reporting for in-person learning. Our grades 9-11 exam week will take place June 16th through June 21st, with June 22nd and 23rd as an exam make-up days. Grades 9-11 will remain at home this week for their virtual exams. All students in Ms. Weeks, Ms. Lightftiz and Mr. Cronin’s classes will report in-person during both exam weeks. Please understand that it is important that students take their exams at the scheduled time. If, for some reason, a student misses an exam, permission to make-up the exam will require administrator approval. Decisions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If a student needs to make-up the exam, they will be expected to email Mr. Mac, Ms. Spas or Mr. Auth for approval prior to the exam make-up date.
FFA Plant Sale Fundraiser
The Chariho FFA Plant Sale Fundraiser is back on campus again this year! It will be Saturday May 8th from 8am-1pm. Thank you for all of the generous community support of our off-site ‘quarantine version’ sale last year. This year, we are back in our greenhouse at the high school with beautiful annuals, vegetable plants and herbs. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and to a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend!
