DECEMBER 2016 Blog

Parent conferences will take place on December 12th and 13th from 12:30-4:00 and 5:00-7:00. Please take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your child's teachers.  Faculty are looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress and to determine needed supports.  This year, parents are asked to sign-up for teacher conferences by going to the following site: bit.ly/CHSParentConf.  Please make sure follow the steps outlined in our letter which was emailed to our parent listserv and posted on the CHS homepage. You can access our letter by clicking here.

In our October newsletter, we mentioned our vision for having "parent patrons" of various clubs, activities, sports, and organizations connected to CHS.  If you are interested in any specific area or want to become more involved in an activity that your child participates in, please email us and we will help you with next steps and in making connections.  On both of the parent conference dates in December there will be an opportunity to sign-up to be a parent patron in the main entrance of the high school.

We would like to dedicate this month's issue to student celebrations.  We have a lot to be proud of here at CHS, where our students are LEADING THE HERD...
Giving Back

This fall students have devoted time and energy to raise money for good causes and to spread awareness.  From raising money for an organization like Hasbro Children's Hospital to bringing awareness to homelessness, students have shown what being a Charger is all about!  Below are some Twitter images that capture the various ways students have given back this fall...

The Spirit of the Herd

Charger pride and spirit are alive and recognized!  Our very own Drew Anderson and "The Herd" won a statewide competition: Battle of the Fans.  You can view the winning video by clicking here.  Many of our sports teams had successful seasons.  Our girls soccer team advanced to the Division II Semifinals and our girls volleyball made it to the Division I tournament!  The Chariho boys cross country team placed 4th at the state championship. Kyle Keefe placed 1st team all state and Evan O'Neil and Garrett Miller placed 3rd team all state!  The girls cross country also had a successful season.  Natalie Keefe and Elizabeth LaCroix ran in the state meet. Elizabeth made 3rd team all state!   Congrats to the field hockey team for being the Southern Division II Champions!  The football team ended the season strong with 3 wins in a row.  Our Unified Volleyball Team are now the Rhode Island DIII State Champions!  Go Chargers!

Congrats to Drew Anderson & The Herd

The Arts

Hopefully you had a chance to catch the Chariho High School Chorus Benefit Concert at Kent Hall or the Chariho Theatre Company's production of Ghost Hunt and A Murdered Mystery!  Very great reviews for both events!

Congrats to Ms. Dowding!
